新加坡郁金香狂热癫狂滨海湾花园 Tulipmania Gardens by the Bay Singapore

T

ulipmania was returns to Singapore at Gardens by the Bay from 14 April to 4 May 2014.  Inspired by Madurodam, a miniature park & tourist attraction in Netherlands, Holland – a centerpiece depicts and windmills set a midst spectacular blooms of tulips and hyacinths.  A mini Holland returns to Singapore again.

Missed a chance to visit Tulipmania last year, and now Gardens by the Bay was proud to announce the return of Tulipmania this year 2014.  Of cause I wouldn’t to miss the chance again this year to visit it.

A very short about Gardens by the Bay,
a City in a garden, captures the essence of Singapore as the premier tropical Garden City with the perfect environment in which to live and work.

Came to Gardens by the Bay, there’s 6 key attractions can choose to visit,
v  Flower Dome
v  Cloud Forest
v  The Supertrees
v  Heritage Gardens
v  World of Plants
v  Garden Cruiser Audio Tours

I choose to visit the Flower Dome and the Cloud Forest, and the Tulipmania is inside the Flower Dome.

What to do in Flower Dome?
Flower Dome, a world of perpetual spring, where unique flowers / plants bloom in an ever changing display of flowers.  Find out the flowers/plants from the Mediterranean and semi-arid subtropical regions.

What to do in Cloud Forest?
Cloud Forest, the real Jungle into a kingdom high in the mountains where can learn about rare plants and their fast-disappearing environment.  Amazing mountain views surrounded by diverse vegetation and hidden floral gems that disappear into the clouds.

The ticketing counter and the parks

There're admission fees & hours for these two parks, need to queue up buying tickets entry.

a long queuing to buy tickets, everyone want to see Tulipmania =D

If you don't want to wait and queuing up this long queue, you can skip the queue by buy the tickets at online now.

After bought the tickets, my first visit is to the Cloud Forest.  *excited*

The Map of the Forest

When entry the park, I see a 35-metre tall mountain covered in lush vegetation shrouding the world's tallest indoor waterfall showcases plant life from tropical highlands up to 2,000 m above sea level.

This is totally refreshing myself in the spray of the waterfall just as the plants in our Cloud Forest do!

looks like a heart shape around the mountain ♥

this is a model Train illustrates the key mode of transport in areas of high elevation around the world.

Climb to the mountaintop in comfort by lift to 7 floors, the mountain has densely planted with a mixture of fascinating orchids, delicate ferns, and colorful bromeliads, dazzling begonias and menacing carnivorous pitcher plants.

The Tulip Craze and the Hyacinth

About the Tulip Craze,
Tulips are the 3rd most popular flowers in the world, after Roses and Chrysanthemums.  While it’s often associated with the Netherlands, they’re believed to have originated from Central Asia and brought to Turkey by nomadic tribes.  The name of “Tulip” was derived from the shape of the flower that resembled the turban (dulbend or tÜlband) of the Sultan of the Ottoman Empire, now knows as Turkey.  This was called “Tulipan” in Europe, which then led to the English name “Tulip”.  As “the most coveted flower in the world”, the demand for tulips in the 1600s began “Tulip Mania” in the Netherlands.  As the height of the tulip craze, the most expensive tulip, the Semper Augustus, rose to f10,000 (Dutch Guilder), equivalent to the cost of a grand house along the canal in Amsterdam or enough to feed a Dutch family for half a lifetime. (Information from the “Tulipmania Brochure”)

Tulips bloom yet ^^
