My First Soup - ABC

I am craving to drink ABC soup recently.  So, decided to cook myself at home.

This is the first time I learn how to cook ABC soup.  Do a lot of online search and find the ingredients on how to cook it.  I think it’s quite simple to cook from the information I get from internet.

First, I need to buy these ingredients to cook the soup for 2 people (me & my hubby, CY):
  • 2xPotato,
  • 2xTomato,
  • 1xOnion,
  • 1xCarrot
  • 2xChicken Drumstick or 2xPork Ribs
  • Salt to taste

I bought all ingredients, but I choose Chicken Drumstick with an additional Tofu.
Here are my ingredients:

Preparation:
Chicken Drumstick
I need to remove the gunk from the chicken, so I put the chicken drumstick into a pot with just enough water to cover them.  Bring to a boil.  Pour away the water; rinse the chicken under the tap to get rid of any blood or other impurities.

Potato, Tomato, Onion & Carrot - Peel & cut them.

Cooking the soup:
Put in the prepared chicken, vegetables into a pot with just enough water to cover them.  Bring it to a high boil.  Once boil, adds Salt to taste and simmer on very low heat for about 2/3 hours.

Tadah~!  This is ABC soup.  It is super easy to prepare.  Therefore, as simple as ABC!

My soup is ready to serve!

RockU Yakiniku Japanese Charcoal Grill Singapore

The Entry

We planned to visit this restaurant long ago.  Finally, we did it!

R

ockU Yakiniku Restaurant – a Japanese Charcoal Grill located at new Bugis+ in Singapore.  A Traditional Style of Japanese dining with modern entertainment, e.g. like live band with modern music of Korean, Japanese, and Mandarin Pop-Rock variety.

We reached here around 6 pm, at that time there's not many people around, but the crowd starts building up after 7pm.  Environment not bad, a cozy dining area with live band performance!  And the lady singer sang very well.  Too bad! We don’t know what is her name! But she sang very well especially the song name ‘Fly me to the moon’; She sang my favorite song and I truly fall in love with her voice.

She sang this song 'fly me to the moon' by Frank Sinatra

the cozy dining area, the live band in the middle

the lady sang 'fly me to the moon' very well.

The carbon stove

The staff brought us to our seat, and took our order, e.g. meat, seafood, vegetable and others and serving us the food.  This is an ala carte buffet dinner, in which most of the food will need to be order from the waiter/waitress, but there's some additional food at the salad bar in which we would need to take ourselves, which consist of snacks e.g. fried chicken, salad, fish ball, kimchi… The counter was behind the live band, and can be found easily

Fried chicken

Udon

Meat - Chicken

The Sea food

Vege and Meat

Vege

Pork and Beef

We start BBQ

The Kimchi *why a Japanese restaurant has Kimchi? Why not?

We only given 90 mins dining time.  It means after 90 mins, the waiter/waitress will ask for last order, I believe we can still stay on but no more food order after that.  So, we were crazy to order twice for all and end up was just cost us S$60+ for 2 people. This does not include water, we ordered a jug of ice lemon tea which cost $10.90++. Although we ordered alot, but we managed to finish them all.  Overall, we really enjoyed with our meals and fun in this restaurant, especially the live band very enjoyable.  And I think if go with a gang of friends, it’ll be more fun and nice.   It's a great place for a casual meetups or gathering.  Will we come back again? Probably yes, love the food, would be better if they at least include some drinks or water into the buffet package, rather than asking customer to order drinks seperately.

Bear Bites 熊の食 Singapore

B

ear Bites, Taiwan steamed buns and Japanese Cruisine – a creative burger concept, which accept the fusion between the different cultures of the East and West and with the iconic bear paw print on the bun itself as representative of Taiwan’s national animal – The Formosan Black Bear.   Now, it’s grand opening here in Singapore Somerset on 27 July 2013 and also in Malaysia!

You can grab the very first Bear Paw Bun outside of the Taiwan now!!!

Bear Bites Restaurant at Singapore Somerset

Knew this restaurant from a TV Show named ‘Singapore Snack Attack –超级小吃赞 at Channel 8.

After watched this, my hubby and I decided to go and try this snack on yesterday 22 September 2013.  Before go, we did a lot of survey about this restaurant and check where the location is.  Finally, we got it! It’s located at Somerset SCAPE Outdoor.

We have been there for our dinner on yesterday evening around 6 pm.  Before entry, we saw a combo set signboard and can see the super cute Bear Paw Bun pictures. Not so many people when we reached and we saw the seating were limited with around 10 tables.  And lucky there have 3 empty tables for us.   So, we decided to order our meals first before we find ours seat.

We have no worries on how to order.  There have very clear signboard how to order at the counter and it’s simple.

3 simple steps of ordering:

  • First step: choose a meat (Chicken or Fish)
  • Second step:  choose the type of bun favor, e.g. original milk, brown sugar, yam, curry, strawberry, oat, squid ink……
  • Third step: choose your sauce, e.g. mushroom, sweet & spicy Thai, black pepper……

My hubby selection:  Chicken -> Original Milk -> Mushroom
My selection: Chicken -> Brown Sugar -> Mushroom

Ours selections was completed with a meal of cheese fries with a bottle of drink.

After we ordered, the staff gave us a queue number and wait for the call to collect our food.  *Self services*

Selfie while waiting for the staff call our queue number to collect our food.

My hubby went to collect our food

Ta-dah!  Ours food came.. Present our two super cute kawaii Bear Paw Buns with cheese fried.

My hubby selection:  Original Milk Chicken Bear Paw Bun

My selection: Brown Sugar Chicken Bear Paw Bun

Ours cheese fried
We were cute to take photo with holding the Bear Paw Bun? ha-ha

Mushroom sauce with chicken

Overall, the chicken was very crispy and chunky.  Portion is just nice and the bun taste is soft and I had the brown sugar bun not so sweet it is just nice.  The mushroom sauce were so nice when bite together with the chicken and the bun.  It’s delicious.  For the place, no wind and also no fan provided, maybe there's, I don't know but to me it’s very hot!  You will sweat while eating the meal.  So if they can put some fan it would be nice to have a lunch, dinner over there.  If there’s next time, I shall prepare my own small fan because I really can’t stand for hot places.
